L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Spain) – The European Commission (EC) signed on Tuesday an agreement with the government of Brazil to collaborate in the development of mobile technology of fifth generation, known as 5G .
the agreement was signed by Commissioner for Economy and Digital Corporation, Günter Oettinger, and the Brazilian Communications Minister André Figuereido at Mobile World Congress (MWC) held until the next quinta- Wednesday in the town of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, in northeastern Spain.
according to the European Commission in the coming years the whole world, “everything” will be connected to 5G, which will be the backbone of industry of the future, of modern public services and innovative applications in areas such as automation and health.
to meet this global challenge, the EU decided to join forces with Brazil “to strengthen their cooperation in this strategic area” and ensure that the 5G is developed on an international scale.
After recalling that the EU has already signed similar agreements with South Korea, Japan and China, Oettinger stressed that Brazil can not afford to stay behind in the digital age.
“the declaration between the EU and Brazil on the 5G will enable close collaboration, joint projects and standards,” said the European Commissioner.
EU and Brazil agree to develop a comprehensive definition of 5G and identify services such as connected cars and internet of things (IoT), which would have to have first access to this technology.
the 5G was the focus of discussions, presentations and demonstrations in Tecnolofia Congress Mobile Barcelona, indicating that governments and companies have aim in 2020.
This is the expected year for the beginning of the marketing of products with 5G , which among its possibilities are multiplied speeds and reduce the commands of a device response time.
