Approved new direction of the Foundation for Science and Technology … – Observer

The Council of Ministers approved on Thursday the appointment of the new Board of Directors of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which will be chaired by Professor Paulo Ferrão and composed of professors Michael Brown, Isabel Ribeiro and Ana Sanchez.

Paul Stinger is a full professor at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of Lisbon University and director of the MIT-Portugal Program, a strategic partnership between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and various universities and Portuguese institutions since 2006.

Michael Brown, who will assume the position of vice president of the FCT, is Professor of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, since 2007 and deputy director since 2011. currently coordinates the Institute of Molecular Medicine.

Isabel Ribeiro, member, is vice president of IST association for Research and Development and Ana Sanchez also vowel, is responsible the courses of science communication in three doctoral programs funded by FCT and two science communication courses of the new doctoral School.

the approval of the new direction is the culmination of a “listening process scientific community on the future of FCT “unprecedented in Portugal, assured the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education in a statement.
