Cable back to the technology most used to give the Internet … – SAPO Tek

At the end of last year the number of fixed broadband subscribers reached 2.99 million, an increase of 9.5% compared to 2014, while the number of hits has advanced 10% to 3.14 million . The connections based on cable networks grew 5.3% to reach 33.8% of the population. The number of ADSL accesses fell 4.7% to 33.1%.

The optical fiber continues to grow rapidly and last year the number of accesses to fixed broadband related technology represented 26.6% market, an increase of 34.3%. Fixed accesses using LTE also increased and accounted for at the end of December 6.5% of the total.
The figures, revealed Monday by Anacom also show that six out of 10 users of fixed broadband services had links with theoretical speeds above 30 Mbps and that three out of 10 enjoyed the same service broadband with speeds equal to or greater than 100 Mbps.

At the end of the year, Meo continued to lead the broadband market fixed but had lost share from 48.1% to 44%. Competitors In and Vodafone grew. The first ended the year with 36.4% of fixed broadband accesses and the second with 14.8% and was the fastest growing.
