The government of Rio Grande do Sul signed on Tuesday, 11, a cooperation agreement with representatives of industry associations, universities, hospitals, municipalities and health plans for the creation of a cluster (complex of related companies to each other) technologies for healthcare in the state. The goal is that the project brings together research centers and industries in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre and work integrated with local hospitals, following the model of the Medical Valley, located in Erlangen, Germany.
More than 40 people have signed the document, which will be valid for three years. Gaucho authorities did not clarify, however, what is the project start forecasting. According to the president of Badesul, Susana Kakuta, for this year are planned some actions such as the consolidation of the governance model, the formulation of strategies for attracting investments, conducting workshops on regulatory frameworks and participation in Medical Fair in Germany.
The cluster will develop technologies and create jobs. The main intention is to transform the Rio Grande do Sul into a reference hub in the generation of knowledge and development of products in healthcare. The internationalization of Medical Valley Erlangen is being implemented by the German government in three locations:. Shanghai, China, Boston, USA, and Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. In May, the state government met with the President of the German complex, Erich Reinhardt, to finalize the details of the partnership. In Germany, the Medical Valley brings together more than 500 companies, including large companies and startups, 16 universities and more than 40 health institutions
