The city of Rio de Janeiro will host the 18th and November 19, the world conference on emerging technologies, known as EmTech. The event will bring together national and international specialists to discuss the technological change with about 800 scientists, business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers.
The EmTech organized by MIT Technology Review , publishing the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also occurs in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Singapore and Hong Kong.
At the launch today (26) the state capital to host the first edition of the conference in Brazil, the president of the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), Luis Fernandes, said the EmTech has an important symbolism, because the construction of the future calls for public policies long term, that may cause results to Brazilian society and to devise innovation across the spectrum.
According to Luis Fernandes, emerging technologies and young entrepreneurs are the combination of the future, because we face the “challenge of innovation in a country that still has low propensity to innovation and risk, and tend to opt for easy and conservative solutions and therefore are not effective levers of building the future. “
The president of Finep, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) provides a global reference for reflection on emerging technologies at the same time it is an “active participant in building innovation ecosystems, attuned to the future construction vision.”
But the vice -president of MIT, Israel Ruiz said, speaking about the importance of investing in human capital and innovative local projects that “technology can transform lives. Israel says the technology has generated fundamental changes in all industries, and it’s time to prioritize changes in the quality of education around the world.
When talking about the conference, the director of EmTech Brazil and MIT Technology Review, Cecilia Nicolini, said the EmTech aims to be a space to create and think. According to her, the people, through technology, can solve problems that still have no solution.
The director recalled that one of the MIT programs, aimed at creating a global community that creates and uses technology to develop solutions to global problems, it occurred last year in Brazil. “It was amazing projects we receive. The system of entrepreneurs and innovation that you have here in Brazil is great, “he said.
According to Cecilia Nicolini, the EmTech will address technologies that will change the world in the coming years. Among them, biotechnology, education of the future, the water supply and the challenges of medicine. During the meeting, will be awarded the second generation of young Brazilian innovative talents under 35 years. There will also be an investment forum to connect of startups (emerging companies) innovative Brazilian with potential investors.
One of the awarded last year by MIT Technology Review was Eduardo Bontempo, creator of Geekie platform Lab, which develops technology to education, from artificial intelligence. The company customizes teaching in schools and universities in function of the needs of each student. Bontempo said for the development of business, “the impact of the award was super important. It gives a stamp of credibility. ” According to him, in addition to print more quality to the project, the award helps to give visibility and to attract new talent to the company.
