RIO – Researchers exchanged photos on curriculum Lattes platform for pictures with the phrase #FicaMCTI in protest against the merger of the Ministry of Science and Technology with the Ministry of Communications. The initiative is the Association of the Federal University Professors (ADUFRJ), which on its website explains the reaction:
“The union was one of the first steps taken by the interim government of Michel Temer and concerns the academic community . To combat them, researchers from various fields of knowledge are exchanging photos of their Lattes curricula by an avatar with #FicaMCTI words “.
Among the protesters is the physical Artaxo Paulo Netto, climatologist member IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change) and the winner of the Fields Medal, the mathematician Arthur Avila.
In an article published in the GLOBE last month Artaxo already criticized the merger of ministries:
– It’s a decision without any reasons including the desires of Brazilian society, which wants to see the country developing technologically. It is unanimous that was a bad action. This shows that they do not know understand the development of the country with science and technology, remain essentially focused on agribusiness and extractive activities. Brazil has to take a step forward and the decision of this new government was to step back.
