Volvo S90 will have autonomous technology and detection of large animals – Globo.com

Volvo launched on Wednesday (2) its most luxurious sedan to compete with German rivals in the premium segment. The new S90 is the second model of a new generation, which began with the XC90 utility.

In addition to the visual, characterized by new front with lighting line in the shape of a “T” lying, the sedan luxury present an evolution of almost autonomous driving technology of the SUV.

According to Volvo, the S90 will not need to follow a car in front to stay within the band on the road in speeds up to 130 km / h. XC90 do the same following a “leader” and up to 50 km / h (see video of how it works).

Furthermore, the sedan will have a new function detect and braking for large animals such as horses or elk, either during the day or night. Volvo models already stop without intervention from the driver for pedestrians and cyclists, and mark studies to expand the list to kangaroos.

The Swedish manufacturer, now in the hands of the Chinese group Geely, guard the technique of launching plug for the Detroit Auto Show in January, but has warned that it will have hybrid powertrain option (T8), as well as gasoline and diesel.

Inside, you can see that the S90 has many similarities to the XC90, with multimedia system the size of a tablet in the center console, which dispenses with much of the buttons.
