Technology and Innovation Award – Express

The 2016 edition of Essilor Car of the Year / Crystal Wheel Trophy addresses the allocation of an award which aims to recognize and reward the most advanced technologies and automotive innovations made by brands in the year 2015 in the domestic market and which shall be conducted by following principles:

1. The Organizing Committee will pre-select five innovative and technologically advanced devices whose main attribute directly benefit the driving and the driver in its most different elements of active and passive safety to ancillary systems that facilitate driving, through energy efficiency, ergonomics or other features.

2. The form of participation in this award is as follows: the motor companies represented in Portugal, and the 2016 edition of the jury of Essilor Car of the Year / Crystal Wheel Trophy may propose or suggest the technologies and innovations tenders, based their choice / Suggested with a brief technical review justifying the option. These will join the options suggested by the Executive Committee, the five that are deemed by the Executive Committee being selected as the most relevant.

3. The proposal, selection, presentation and voting on the five applications will be carried out in accordance with the following schedule:

a) Submission of applications by brands, jury and Executive Committee until 15 January 2016 .

b) Selection of the five applications and information support to the judges until 29 January 2016

c) Grade of applications to coincide with the final vote of Essilor Car of the Year / Trophy Volante Crystal the 12/13 February 2016

d) result in the disclosure of Essilor Party Car of the Year / Crystal Wheel Trophy.

4. The list of five innovations will be considered and then voted on by the judges of Essilor Car of the Year / Crystal Wheel Trophy, with a brief informational support on the applications provided to the jury, which will designate the winner of this award in accordance with the following vote:

a) The judges will effect their vote giving 5 points to the application that judge should have first place, 4 points for second, 3 points to the third, 2 points and 1 point to the fourth to the fifth. The candidate with the most votes will be awarded. In case of equal points the tie shall be made through the full first obtained places. If a tie permaneçaa the tie shall be made through the number of second places obtained and successively to be found the winner.

The cases shall be considered and resolved by the Executive Committee of Essilor Car of the Year / Trophy Crystal wheel.
