Made with 3D technology, new face of Santa Paulina is presented … – Globo.com

The new sculpture of Santa Paulina, the result of 3D technology and a thorough job, was presented to worshipers on Sunday (20) in the shrine in Nova Trento, in Florianópolis. The image was released exclusively by RBS news (see video above) on Saturday night (19).

The facial reconstruction was based on her skull. Once scanned, the graphic designer Cicero Moraes, who had already made the face of Mary Magdalene and St. Anthony of Padua, used 3D technology to sculpt the cheeks, nose and give a new smile for the first saint considered Brazilian, despite being born in Italy.

“The reconstruction process is practically a digital sculpture, where we crossed statistical data with anatomical. [The result comes] from 85 to 90% of the person’s face volumes in life,” says Moraes.

The completion of the work was the artist Mari Bueno, with the technique oil on canvas, which gave color to the new face of the saint. “I got a 3D all-white printing. So I came working on a study of the whole history of Santa Paulina and a photo too.”

For the painting, the artist also heard testimony from some of the sisters of the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, founded by the saint.

realistic Work
The work is considered the most realistic ever made religious. “The first impression of the sisters who knew Santa Paulina was joy. ‘It is herself’” said Terezinha Negri, sister and historian.

In addition to the sculpture, which will remain in the sanctuary, the other two will be exposed in places that were part of the history of the saint:. a memorial in São Paulo and the other in Vigolo Vattaro in Italy, where Santa Paulina was born
