Study reveals that technology is killing Memory – TVI24

Scientists are nickname of “digital amnesia” weak ability to retain information, due to the use of the smartphone and Google. According to a study in England, the average attention span, us humans, has descrescido since the beginning of the technological revolution of mobile phones.

Kaspersky Lab revealed that the results show that half of adults do not remember the partner’s mobile phone number and over 70% do not know the telephone contact of the children. Half of teens between 16 and 24 said their smartphone contains almost all the information they need to know or remember.

This tendency to store important contacts and information only in digital devices has transformed their level of importance and the architecture of our brains.

“We have to realize the long-term implications of this for our memory and how we can protect our memories,” said David Emm, scientist at Kaspersky Lab. “Phone numbers of those dearest to us are now just a click distânica – so no longer care to fix the details.”

Katheryn Mills of the Institute of Neuroscience cognitive, went further and compared the Internet access in the western world with access to safe water and light in many societies.

“The act of forgetting is not inherently bad. We are creatures that adapt and do not remember everything because it is not an advantage. But forget it becomes bad when involves losing information that we need to retain, “he said, adding that trust in digital media helped our brains to put less emphasis on the ability to memorize.

According to the The Telegraph , the results go against a Microsoft study, published in early 2015, which concluded that the ability of average attention, human, down from 12 seconds in 2000 to eight seconds. Results were linked to the evolution of mobile phones: the better the technology becomes, the worse the memory and the ability to be attentive.

In addition, the study found that people who spend more time online and who adopt early technology have more difficulty concentrating.

In a 2012 study, 70% of 400 teachers questioned in the UK, said that the students’ attention was smaller and 95% of students said they preferred to use the Internet than reading books.
