Japanese scientists create tactile technology that can help to play … – ipcdigital

TOKYO (IPC Digital) – Have you ever thought to talk to someone online and being able to touch them or at least feel them, even though virtually

Well, the Japanese scientists are working on this technology? , which can reach this device would help many people, and talk, feel the other.

In practice, what has been built is a machine able to transform holograms (images in 3 dimensions) palpable. Called “Haptoclone,” the holographic machine consists of two boxes, one containing an object and the other displaying a hologram of the object (its “clone”).

In this machine, if a user places his hand the second box to interact with the hologram (the “clone” of the object that was presented at the first machine), you can feel it, thanks to ultrasonic radiation pressure issued in his hand.

The tactile sensation is quite realistic. A US site Gizmodo reporter tried the machine, saying a holographic ball with which interacted seemed made of inflated plastic. Another Motherboard Site reporter who also experienced the Haptoclone and interacted with the hologram of a human hand described a feeling “strange gurgling” emanating from her fingers.

For now, the technology is still limited. It can only issue a “safe” level of ultrasonic radiation, which means that the degree of tactile feedback may simulate that is restricted to something like an object lightly stroking. Still can not simulate a handshake or a hug, for example.

But for those who live the longing for family and friends, this is a story that generates hope. Maybe one day power, and chat, feel the person on the other side! Is this possible in the near future? Let’s wait and see
