Portugal Built technology that detects when elderly falls – News Minute to

In a statement, the HCP states that over the four-year project (2011-2015) were developed “hundreds of tests and created dozens of innovative solutions” with the goal of providing “a new impetus to the prospect of living into old age with quality of life due to the use of new technologies that support the maintenance of their lifestyle in an autonomous way, in the current environment of your home. “

Some examples of these technologies go through fall detection elderly / smartphone user and sending a SMS alert to your caregiver, reminder to take medication, monitoring of physical activity, number of steps made count, distance calculation and kilocalories expended, among others.

The results of this project will be presented next Monday, in the Auditorium of the Science and Technology Park, University of Porto (UPTEC), between 14:00 and 17:45.
