The plans also cover the sector of the means of mobile payments over the internet, said Prasong Poontaneat, director-general of the Revenue Department of Thailand.

Thailand is focused on changing the existing regulations, said Prasong, adding that a working committee had been established to find solutions on the recovery of taxes for companies such as Google and other technology companies.

“We are studying this issue and created a commission to analyze this over the last two months,” said Prasong.

“The idea is to seek appropriate solutions for Thailand and that could involve a change in some of the regulations because the current laws are outdated and have been used for more than 50 years,” said Prasong, adding that it expects the commission to present solutions to the end of the year.

The Google Thailand not commented on the matter, as well as the spokesman for Google Asia Pacific.
