The Mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (PT) said on Monday (5) that the administration has already completed technical studies on the uptake of new technologies in transport, such as passenger service paid Uber, and that regulation of this type of service out until Thursday (8).
This week is the deadline for the mayor decide whether sanctions or vetoes bill passed the House in September and prohibiting Uber in the city.
The mayor did not work how that regulation and if the uber may then acting in the same way as it is today. However, it signaled that the service must be released stating that technologies that appeal users can not be dispensed with.
“We need to modernize the service. We can not dispense with a technology that is the user’s liking in prejudices function. But we have to recognize that, without regulation, this service will degrade, but not aid the city, “he said.
Haddad said he will meet with representatives of the Uber and” other partners “before the announcement. He thanked the public letter released by Uber through advertising in major newspapers and said that also in talks with the taxi drivers.
Breach
The project law prohibiting Uber in the city was approved with an amendment presented by the government leadership in the House. In practice, it opened a loophole for the regulation of this type of application by requiring that the City promotes studies to improve individual transport legislation of passengers and the compatibility of new services and technologies.
Haddad told SPTV on 25 September, the Uber will not be banned, but “only on certain conditions he will be accepted.”
